You are in my thoughts and prayers - both of you - that you may have strength for each day and each step of the way in this process. It sounds like you have a good team of doctors and they are keeping you well informed. We hope with you for the best. Marilyn

He is still at home, on a very restricted diet, and has to see the consultant next Wednesday to discuss the treatment and sequence of events. The bowel consultant wants him to see another specialist about the secondary tumour in his liver but we don't yet know when that will be. The proposed timescale for the start of treatment is still the same - within the next 2 to 3 weeks.
Thank you all again for your support, it is very much appreciated.

I don't know if any consolation, Jane, but it sounds like from what the docs are telling your hubby and doing, is what our practice would be doing. So I guess I am trying re-assure you it sounds like you are not being jerked around. My best to you and yours, Donna

Thank you everyone for your support and encouragement, it is very comforting to know there are such good friends here. Thank you Donna for the reassurance. The flowers Preston sent on behalf of the forum have been coming out and are very pretty - they are a basket of tete a tete daffodils. I hope to be able to post more news tomorrow afternoon, after we have been to see the consultant.

I have more news now. As far as the bowel tumour is concerned there is a provisional date of 1st April for its removal in an anterior resection. (They have to allow about 6 weeks after an obstruction of the bowel before operating, to allow the swelling to reduce) Until they do the operation they won't know whether any follow up chemotherapy is required, they will be checking the lymph nodes as well. The tumour in the liver will be dealt with later and there might be chemotherapy first. He has some fluid on his right lung and had a chest X ray today to see whether it is building up or not. If it is they will need to take some off to check for cancerous cells.

Just what he needs. I hope you know where I am going with this -- what a time to hope for pneumonia. I hope the fluid is negative. You can have benign pleural effusions. I don' t know the equipment you have there, has he had a PET scan yet? That shows the uptake of tumors and you know what you are dealing with. Sending our best wishes for your whole family, Donna

Donna, I sent a reply to an e-mail saying the same thing. We will have to add you to the "great minds think alike" category. I am so proud of this forum. Jane kept helping and posting no matter the other things that pass through ones family. This one is on the inside of the front door and the members have really returned the love and concern. There has been a couple of times that some might consider my attitude about conduct here to be "hot headed", but I see now that we have a family of considerate Grey owners (and maybe not owners, but looking to be), but all are welcome. I'd like to thank you all for rallying around my friend in her time of need! THANK-YOU.
