Crews of Hydro workers have gone down to the States from Ottawa to help them restore electricity. It is unbelievable the destruction down there.

We are very blessed. The shore is like "gone" from what spotty news we are getting. We saw a crew from Michigan coming down in a convoy too! Thanks to all states helping us! We have power and heat. Getting very chilly in here and I was putting sleeping bags on the birds. We have next door plugged into our outlet as they don't have power (on another grid)

My area is in good shape except for lots of trees and power lines down making driving around challenging - but that doesn't matter anymore because we can't drive because there is no gas....I swear I've never seen anything like this. My brother in Staten Island, not so good. He lives about 5 blocks from the water and a surge came down his block and he had 10 feet of water in his basement coming into his first floor. He has no power and has relocated to other family in Staten Island. Waiting to hear updates from him. I have several friends who either live on the beach or on canals that are in very bad shape...it is very sad to see but I've become obsessed with the coverage. One of my co-workers lives in Far Rockaway, he lost totally everything and is now homeless living with is brother.
So many freak deaths, certain stories will be stuck in my mind for a while. I pray for all those families, I can't imagine it at all. I don't even know them and I feel intense anxiety thinking about how some of these people lost their lives.
I am thankful for so much right now....even my 2.5 gallons of gas that came from Connecticut....one of my mom's workers went to get some for the work truck and he gave me a container. I still had a 1/4 of a tank before we topped it off with the new gas and that should hold me over until the gas crisis is over...which they say should be in the next few days.
Amazing how much we take for granted. Now they are talking about a Noreaster coming our way....don't even want to think about it. Too many people are devastated to take on more challenges.

One of our xrt therapists lived in Rockaway and totally gone too. We took up a collection for him. Next door just got his own power as we had it a day ago and left him plugged in to our house. He bought, amazingly, a generator from Sears today. We have odd/even gas like gas rationing back in 1978 . One of hubby's friends in NYC, cop, was w/o gas because he didn't think it would be that bad. I know I am holding my breath for the noreaster too! saving all my supplies just in case. Did empty tub though...... Now we need Grant to be back up!

We did alright. Only had a few shingles blown off the roof. We lost power for 24 hours - went out Monday night and came back on Tuesday night.
Had several large trees fall into some houses, no one was hurt which is good.
Other parts of my town (Stratford), which is on the coast of Long Island Sound, didn't do as well. The schools were closed all week. The Airport was under water as well as the homes near the water.
Now we have another storm heading here Wednesday and Thursday!
