Everyone be careful! We've got bird carriers at the ready and their go box has been ready since last tornado warning this summer. We at least have Dad's small generator which will be enough for fridge/freezer. Stove is gas so I can still cook.

Getting ready here. Stocked up on water and ice and watching the track of the storm. I have battery operated candles for light. After the double 7 day power outages last year, CT has vowed to get more efficient in planning for the repair process. This may be the first test of the process we have had since then.

I think your state is better prepared on paper, Grant. JCPL says look at 10 days. Swell.... we got lucky with Irene last year. Hubby is now saying when, not if power goes out. I work from home and will do as much as I can tomorrow and Monday and then hope. I don't know what I would do w/o 10 days of paycheck!!!!! Also fill freezer and fridge as much as possible with home made water/ice packs to help. I am filling both ziplock and tupperwares Later can be used for water. I won't drink tap or filtered fridge water w/o boiling after a storm, too risky for contaminants.

Moved DJ away from the window and am prepared as well as can be. Just heard that part of the boardwalk in Atlantic City has already collapsed I'm really hoping it will not be as bad as we are expecting but with seeing the surf on TV and hearing about all the mandatory evacuations it is sounding like Sandy will be everything they say she will be. NYC MTA has already announced total mass transit shut down...closing of bridges and tunnels TBA. I know I am not working, but hubby's job is waiting it out until tomorrow morning to make the official call....ridiculous, most of his route is in evacuated areas. Stay safe everyone.
