Sissy and Pete seem to be settling in quite nicely!! They have ate heartily and they have talked and whistled, made different noises quite a lot!! On the way home and after we got home!! I hope the smooth transition continues! Even Pepsi joined in with them talking and whistling!! I was just sure we would have 3 quiet greys for a couple of days....not moving, barely eating, and saying nothing!! Boy was I wrong, and I'm glad I was!!! Here are a few pics I took today. This is their cages in the back of the truck. Sissy in her travel cage in the backseat. Pete (on the right) in her travel cage in the backseat. She climbed all over that cage talking and whistling most of the way home. Their cages back to back right now. This may change. Sissy eating. Pete eating.

Great. Very happy that this seems to be working out. They are very well adjusted birds of course, Preston loved them and taught them well.

They look like they are doing so well and although I'm so happy I do admit I feel a bit sad at the same time....a very bittersweet moment. Thank goodness they have a great home.

I feel the same way....I'm happy to have them, but heartbroken because of the circumstances that I have them. I will do my best to give them the best possible home that they deserve. I'm so glad they seem to be adjusting so smoothly!

It is very emotional to see those photos because I keep thinking of Preston posting about Pete and Sisika but it is wonderful you have taken them on and they are all settling in together. That is great news.

yes bittersweet but comforting to know Preston's babies are in a good, forever home. I never realized what big honking cages they had!

It is sad they had to leave Preston but I am happy they are together in a good home and seem to be settling in nicely.

HaHa DF!! They are huge!! Our room isn't that big so I'm not sure...so far it's working how we have them sitting, but it sure takes up a lot of room. Too bad they can't be in one cage! It'll work out though...as long as they are happy that's all that matters!!

Is there a reason they can't share a cage? Our girls (the grays) stay in the same cage as does Janes. Has it ever been tried? Both are girls.

Loyce, that would be AWESOME if they could! I don't know if it has ever been tried. Does anyone remember if Preston ever talked about this? I'd hate to try it and they fight and get hurt!!!

I am not sure whether they have either. I know Preston bought them the two macaw cages in 2008, and in 2009 he wrote in an email: "like it breaks my heart to see Sisika look at Pete and want to climb up to be with him and he snaps at her"
but that was three years ago.

Jane, so maybe they were in the same cage and didn't get along? If they've been in separate cages since 2008, then they would probably be protective of their cage and it may not be a good idea to have them in the same one. I do know they get along outside of the cage, but being IN the cage can be a whole different situation, and I haven't tried that. I thought about the stacked cages...they are just as wide and same depth, but the height isn't as tall. They don't go to the bottom of the cage anyway, so I wonder if that would be okay to have the stacked ones?
