Five Household Cavalry horses were on the loose in central London this morning after they got spooked by noise from builders near Buckingham Palace and bolted, unseating their riders. The horses collided with traffic including a stationary double decker bus which was left with a smashed windscreen. The runaway horses were galloping along and one was covered in blood. All have now been rounded up, two of them were found five miles away, and are back at their barracks and being seen by a vet. Three soldiers and a member of the public were taken to hospital. It must have been unusually noisy because the horses are trained to get used to heavy traffic, loud noises, gun salutes, military bands etc. Apparently some building materials were dropped from a height right next to them.
