The Great Auk is extinct but an egg laid in the 1700s is going on display at the Natural History Museum in London. Great Auks were three feet tall and looked similar to penguins. Each female laid eggs with a different pattern so that she could identify hers in a crowded nesting area.

I read about them and their demise was so sad. That would be cool if they were able to reintroduce their dna using penguins or something like that.
