This is really unpleasant looking creature if ever there was one. An Alligator Snapping Turtle. It was found in a lake by a dog walker in Cumbria and rescued using a shopping basket and three pairs of builders gloves as they can deliver a nasty bite. It is alive, just lethargic because of the cold. Being native to swamps in the US they are not native here and it is thought the owner dumped it. It is being cared for by vets until a new home can be found for it. When fully grown they can weigh 12 stone.

This is a longer video where they talk to one of the vets. They have called it Fluffy because they think it looks cute. I think the only vaguely cute thing about it is its nose which looks a bit like a dog's nose. Jane

I don’t think he looks cute. When I was at the vet with Chy years ago, a couple came in with a huge snake called Fluffy Fluffy didn’t make it and the woman was heartbroken.

Is it just me or is there what looks like the head of a tiger exactly between the red play button and the turtle's nose?

It looks more like a growth of some kind to me. The whole thing looks like someone cleaned out a sewer.

I did some research and apparently they have radiating coloured patterns round the eyes to help with camouflage and also the eyes are surrounded by fleshy "eyelashes". I still think it looks like a tiger's head though, I can see an ear, eyes, nose and a mouth!

You are more observant than me. I just don't see it.
