Hi all,
This is a bit of a rant and a health concern.
So I have family who stay about an hour away and we visit them fairly often. They have a designated spare room where we sleep (and I put the travel in there at night). For the past few months I have noticed a smell in the room but whenever I bring it up, my family (different people) say they can't smell anything, so they couldn't really help me with the smell.
I'm staying with them for the week because my mom is visiting from Germany, but Aka isn't with me because a week is too long for him to stay in his travel cage. He's at home with my husband. I figured out what the smell was. It's moth balls. They keep extra clothes in that room and put moth balls in the bag that's stored under the bed, which is an issue for when Aka for when he was here. I'll obviously sleep in a different room then next time we come here together, but should I be concerned about his health from when we did sleep in this room? He didn't behave or eat any differently during and after the visit/s, but could there be damage that I can't see?
My family doesn't really think about the dangers of having birds in certain situations so I'm always with him when I'm here, but they didn't think the moth balls would be an issue. Should I make an appointment for the vet just in case? The smell is really strong so I was worried about the poison in the air, if you know what I mean?
Should I take him to the vet when I get back, just in case?
Thanks.
