There is a virulent cat coronavirus in Cyprus, an estimated 300,000 cats have died since January. It could spread to the UK because of British people who are based in Cyprus and who travel with their pets. It could be that cats were exposed to human Covid during the pandemic and developed antibodies to that and the feline virus has now mutated to become more virulent. It is also thought there have been outbreaks in Lebanon Israel and Turkey.

There were a few animals catching Covid during the worst of the pandemic but we didn’t hear of many. That is terrible about the cats.
