So we have a lot of flies in Spring and Summer, and still a few in Autumn and Winter because the water doesn't really freeze so fly lava can survive season to season (which really sucks).
I am always weary of the flies in the lounge because of the moisture in Aka's chop and breakfast. I remove the chop at around midday because of this but sometimes the flies still come. From the beginning, I told Aka to shoo the flies away. I told him to say "Be gone, vermin" so I'll hear when there are flies in the area so I can check is bowls afterwards.
Well, he understands the concept because when he see's a fly now, or a group of flies, he climbs to the top of his cage and gets excited, watching them with his eyes and starts' screaming at them.
This is where I screwed up lol. He doesn't/can't say "Be gone, vermin" yet so the only way he can communicate this to me is by screaming at them to go away. I can't say "Don't scream" because he (normally) only screams when he see's them so that would be like me telling him to not do the thing I asked him to do, so I/we have to live with a parrot who screams at flies until he learns to say "Be gone, vermin." Yay.

Aka knows you don't want them around and he is getting excited when he sees them. Maybe try not to show any annoyance towards the flies and he might stop screaming. Can you get one of those battery operated devices that look like a small tennis racket? You just swat them with it and push a button on the bat at the same time and it will quickly dispose of them.

Because we have screens on our windows, we rarely get a fly in the house. The other day, one came in with me. I told Chy to catch it but it didn’t bother her. We just let it die a natural death.
