When I can, I make parrot-safe versions of the suppers I make for my husband and I. Tonight it was mince and vegetable pie, so I made a muuuch smaller pie for Aka but without the mince, onion, and garlic, etc. The pastry was a apparently a bit hard for him because he let the crust soak in his water bowl and ate the vegetables in the softer pie at the bottom. He then carefully pulled the crust from the water when he was finished with the vegetables and ate it. They can be so particular sometimes haha.

Mitzi always dips Nutriberries in the water, only briefly but enough to make her beak messy when she eats them. When Monty and Mitzi were sharing a cage she would just drop them on the floor if Monty was in the way of the water bowl and she couldn't dip it.

Hi Jane,
That's really cute. More mess equals more fun with greys it seems. Did she drop them so Monty could have one or was it by accident?

No, she drops them deliberately if she can't dip them in the water. She never gives Monty anything and given the chance she will even snatch food out of his beak.

Chy usually only dunks pellets in her water bowl. The odd time she dunked Nutriberries, she left it in the water too long and it disintegrated.

Hi Jane,
That's mean haha. Has she always been a bully?
Hi Haz,
Aka has tried dunking his pellets in his water but he doesn't like the feeling of squishy pellets or pelleted water so when he does that (it hasn't happened in a while because he doesn't like it) I had/have to give him new water because he would refuse to drink his water if there are pellets in it. He doesn't mind seeds when they come off his beak and he sometimes puts his chop pieces in his water bowl and will drink the water and eat the stuff inside his bowl no problem, but not with pellets.

I think she has got worse but she has quite a complicated relationship with him. When she was away at the animal hospital overnight in 2019 she must have missed him because when I got her home the first thing she did was go and give him a kiss. (They never preen each other or sit next to each other though).
Now they are in separate cages she watches to see what he is doing and when I uncover her in the mornings she goes over to the side of the cage nearest to his and waits for me to uncover him then says hello. On the other hand when they were together she would bully him off perches, chasing him around and pulling feathers out. He is very docile and never fights back.

Hi Jane,
That is a complicated relationship...
Maybe she misses him in her cage but is still possessive over 'her' things. That's so cute though, about the saying hello and waiting. It makes me think of how people greet each other when they have spent a night apart and want to see their friend/partner ASAP.
