Hi all,
So I am a writer by trade. I currently work as a ghost writer but I have a few books of my own lined up. One of these books is a book on African Grey's. The book will be about African Greys from a research and informative method, but from the parrot's perspective. I would appreciate any info on the personalities of your grey's and your experience regarding how they react to certain things, as well as any strange/odd fears they have.
For example, the post I wrote about Aka being petrified of the feather duster would be a part of the book. The passage in the book would read something along the lines of "The black and grey monster who hides in the kitchen came out again today. I screeched and growled but the human pretended not to notice. The human is very brave for carrying a monster in their arms. Maybe next time I'll bite it. That will show the human how dangerous it is." The training and favourite/disliked foods etc. will also be from the parrot's perspective, but only having one parrot to notice reactions and behaviours from will be a bit one-sided. I know each African Grey has a unique personality.
Any stories, tidbits, or behaviours, would be cool. Nothing is too minor because each behaviour shapes the experience and personality of the parrots. I will do my own research about the necessities (like a well-balanced diet and how much direct sunlight they need and how much one-on-one time they need, etc.), and what not to do etc. but the research won't have personality, which is where you and your grey's come in. If you want to participate, you can write your stories here, or PM me, and your parrot's names (with your permission) will be the parrot's in the book. I don't have a time frame for it yet, I'm just doing the research and story gathering at the moment. I will include your names (if you want me too) as part of the book, either in the "Thank you" part in the beginning of the book or as characters in the book itself, but if you don't want that it's totally fine, I'll just focus on the parrot's and add my own names to the book.
Thanks!
