Hello all, I have been all over the net with this question but I am still at a loss. When my landlord came to check on Aka while my husband was at work during the day and I was in Germany, he said the music was way too loud and we were torturing the poor bird. Aka generally likes music and has a few favorite bands which is cool, so my husband put his playlist on. The general sound level was about 70-80 decibels (my husband has a sound meter on his pc). The speakers are about a meter away from the one side of his cage, but from the other side of his cage the distance is about 3 meters. Is this to loud for Aka? He doesn't make any unpleasant sounds when he listens to the music, he sings and chips along, as long as its not EBM/trance music, or female vocalists, which he doesn't like at all and lets me know very quickly. Are we torturing him with the volume of our music? Thanks

If Aka is singing along with the music he must be enjoying it and I think he would let you know if he was uncomfortable.
They don't like sudden loud noises.

Hi Jane,
That's what I thought too, he sings along to most of our music except what I explained above, then he starts making an annoyed sound (there isn't any other way to describe it, you can just tell he is annoyed) and we change the music or stop.
True, I always feel bad when I bump something that makes a noise or drop something. I will listen to the music and make sure there aren't any sudden noises in the songs since some artists enjoy doing that.
