Hi everyone, My husband sent these pictures and asked if Aka is cold. His feathers are a little puffed up but I don't know if that's from cold or if he's excited.
The orange thing is to block the cold from the door, the other side of his cage is open. Is he cold?
Thanks.

I can't really tell. Usually if you feel cold they will but they usually tolerate different temperatures well as long as changes are not sudden and they are not in a draught. I don't have the heating on overnight and the temperature can go down to 16 degrees. I cover the cage at night with a thick sheet. (Actually two king size cotton sheets sewn together)

Did he tell you what the temperature in the house was?
Chyloe can have cold feet and beak without fluffing her feathers. She will tell me if she feels cold.

Your parrot does not look uncomfortably cold. When they are really cold, they'll be a lot more fluffed up and tucked in. His foot isn't even tucked fully into his body feathers. I wouldn't worry too much. They are quite hardly in handling different temperatures if done slowly as Jane suggested.
In Northern CA, the zoo keeps them outside year round and they are flying around when snow is on the ground. They handle it just fine too.

Hi,
Thanks for your replies. Sorry I took so long to replbody No my husband didn't give me the temp. but it was probably around 14/15 on that day.
Ok cool I won't worry too much, it will get a bit colder before it warms up again. I'll check for his feet close to his body and fluffing up more.
