Beaker didn't get an air bath for two weeks!

Wow he just stood there! That's so cool, was that all his dust coming off him or was some of it from the nozzle?

All the dust and particulates are from him.
Beaker is a very good sport about it and I think he looks forward to it sometimes.
He trusts me a lot.

Oh wow, that's a lot of dust. No wonder AG owners and enthusiasts say it's so important to offer a bath every day.
Yes, it looked like he was enjoying it, how old is he?
I can see that he trusts you a lot. Aka trusts me because I fed him as a baby and I'm with him the whole day but I don't think he trusts me as much as that. That (I'm assuming) takes years of trust-building.
I laughed when you greeted your neighbors. They were casually walking by -oh, a dust cloud. From a bird. Having an air bath in a garage (I think it was a garage)?

Beaker is about 12 years old. I got him when he was a chick. He gets an air bath once a week, weather permitting. It has been a once a week thing for at least 11 years or more.
If you check out my other videos you can tell he and I are "buddies", however it is my son that can get away with just about anything with him without getting bit. LOL
Beaker yells for him to come downstairs and chase him either across the floor or on his cage. I have to make a video of that. He plays "attack" parrot. Very funny.
I do have a theory about the dander. In the wild the dander is shaken off "in flight", but in captivity, very little gets shaken off. Without a wet or air bath, the dander builds up to become an irritant and some will resort to plucking, ergo a naked bird.
I do notice that Beaker's nostrils look very clean vs restricted, I know that they breath in a lot of the dander from preening.
FYI a lot of bird owners suffer from respiratory problems due to the dander.
AG's and cockatoos are known as "powder" birds because of the dander they excrete.
They are the "worst" of the lot.
FYI, I used to be on another AG forum and someone freaked out viewing one of my "air-bath" videos and threatened to report me to the ASPCA.

That's so cool, how long did it take him to get used to it? Do you have a special compressor for him or is it just a different (very small) nozzel? Does he get water baths as well? From the forums (here and others), a lot of CAG's really don't like water. Could that be because they weren't introduced to the water in a nice way? Aka is petrified of the spray bottle, even before I used it and introduced it slowly so I bought a solar-powered fountain that shoots water about 15cm in the air. Size of spray bottler doesn't seem to matter. It works well because I don't bath Aka when it's cold or rainy so if I put the fountain outside and it doesn't work, I know it's not hot or sunny enough. he gets into it when he wants to, plays on the rocks at the bottom, and isn't scared of anything in the fountain. I wouldn't trust myself with a compressor, I have never used one before and thier bones are so fragile. I've seen two of your other videos, the one called "Beakertout plays with my son" or something like that, and another one with just you and Beakertrout. It was very cute, you can definitely see you are buddies. Ya I assume so. Aka's nose gets like that and then he dunks his whole head in his water bowl or the bath if its hot enough and then I can see he feels better. When we got him, I didn't really know about the excessive dander so his nostrils were super dry because he was still very young and didn't preen like an adult parrot. We bought a humidifier and that fixed the problem. We don't do it every night anymore though, once a week unless I can see he is uncomfortable. We live in a very dry climate so the dander irritates the skin if its dry I heard about the dander issues. I think I'll be OK, if not, oh well. I'd rather have a parrot plus respiratory issues haha. At least I'll feel good when I look at him and play with him. That makes sense, about the dander. They must make a lot though, if this video was after two weeks. Why though? I'm pretty sure Beakertout looked as pleased in the other videos. People are weird.

It is incredible how you do that. Haz I give all the credit to Beaker. We all know that if an AG doesn't want to do something, it usually won't get done.

Oh ok cool. I'm not much of a handy person aside from fixing hinges and painting so I didn't know you can get compressors with such low pressure.
That's cool, wet and dry bathed parrot. He is cleaner than a lot of people I know haha.
Thanks for the link. I will look at that if he decides that he doesn't like the fountain anymore. He doesn't go into it every time but it's not because he's scared of it, (I'd know haha), but having it there seems to calm him. Like he knows he can get wet (which he loves) when he wants to.

They have adjustable regulators for adjusting the pressure on most air compressors. smile.amazon.com/PneumaticPlus-PPR2-N02BG-2-Miniature-Pressure-Regulator/dp/B01BO91D2O/ref=psdc_3419740011_t1_B01KYTZBEG?th=1

Hi Beakertrout,
Great thanks. I'll see if I can get one if Aka starts disliking the water bath, or I could do both.

If you do, I suggest you make a game of it at first. I started with Beaker on my shoulder and I sprayed my hair then him. After a while I just sprayed him.
It was neat when he started flapping in the breeze.
I had a friend in 4H that told me if he would have known about my method, he would have used it on his show chickens.

Cool thanks for the tip. That would make sense, Aka complains when I wear a hat so an air jet out of no-where would freak him out a lot haha.
That's so cool. I actually didn't know show chickens were a thing until I found a post about Wyandotte chickens. I think we might become CAG and chicken breeders when we move to the Netherlands, lots of pretty feathers, and talkative birds haha.

They do make a huge amount of dust. I have an air purifier but it doesn't capture all the dust. A while ago I found a picture frame underneath an item of furniture. The parrot dust was so thick it looked like a covering of snow.
