Hi everyone,
Aka sleeps in a smaller sleep cage in the bedroom with us, but his sleep cage is a cage they generally use for budgies. He prefers the smaller sleep cage-the first one we had for him was a bit bigger (+- 45cm L x 40cm H x 15cm W) than he current one (+- 40cm L x 35cm H x 15cm W)-, and we changed it because the first one was very old and had wires in the corners.
We recently bought a new cage but after reading about zinc poisoning I am a bit scared of the cage. He does bite the cage (and paint/powder-coating) sometimes but I don't know what material they used for the frame. Should I be concerned? He has been to the vet recently for a different issue and the vet said he was doing very well but I don't know if the vet would have picked up on anything if Aka wasn't tested. He isn't sick or anything, he eats/drinks the same as always, and his droppings are normal so I don't think there is a problem, yet. Will there be?
I could phone the pet store and ask what they used for the frame but I doubt the employees would know and I doubt I'd be able to get hold of the manufacturer since the pet store gets their products from a lot of different places.
Is Aka in danger or am I just paranoid?
Thanks.
Edit: I measured the cage properly instead of just eye-balling it. Cage dimensions are 40Lx12Wx46H.

I don't bother with a sleep cage. Instead, Chy goes in her regular cage which I cover with a thick bedspread. That way, we don't disturb each other. Chy goes to bed at 8:00 p.m. If she was in our bedroom, we would wake her up as we always watch the late news in bed. She gets to sleep undisturbed from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Thanks for the response Haz,
In the beginning, Aka did sleep in the lounge and I put dark sheet over the cage. That became a problem for two reasons: the lounge is cold, in any season, any time of the day, so Aka would get cold and wake the whole house up because he was complaining that he was cold. The second problem is that I am a night owl. I go to sleep around 2 am on a good day, and the noise of the kettle and me doing stuff around the house would wake him up. One day when he woke up because he was cold, I just prepared the sleep cage and took him to the bedroom. He is much happier there, and I think he prefers being close to my husband and I when we sleep. For those reasons, I can't keep him in the lounge so he has to sleep in the room with us. We live in a garden flat so when I say lounge, it's lounge + dining room so there aren't any other places for him to sleep.
I also put him to bed at 8 but he wakes up earlier, maybe 7, and just chills and talks to himself until I get up, which is when he bites the cage. I was thinking of putting more toys but I don't really want to put too many in the sleep cage in case he hurts himself because he is sleepy etc.
