Three weeks ago I suffered from an attack of cramping in my legs so severe I thought that I was gonna end up in the hospital.
It happened at night and has happened before, but this episode was so bad that after I thought I got it under control in one leg it would switch to the other leg! YEOWWW!
As a final insult, its went to my arm.
GOOD GRIEF!
The next day I decided to do major research on the subject.
What I found:
1. They are not permanent and are not known to cause any lasting damage.
2. They get worse as one gets older (SWELL!).
3. A reason why older people "shrink" as the ligaments shrink.
4. HYDRATION can really help.
Taking note of #4, I started a regiment of constantly drinking water.
R/O (reverse osmosis) as Los Angeles tap water has too much crap in it and it is cumulative. So I am drinking about ten 20oz glasses of water a day and going to the bathroom A LOT!
However, I am into my third week and except for one minor cramp, I haven't had another episode.
If it was used as a form of torture, I would tell them anything they want to hear, in fact I would make stuff up and swear to it to make the cramps stop, they were that bad.
My advice; HYDRATE!!!!!

Sorry to hear about the leg cramps. They really are painful. Thankfully, in my case, I haven’t had any since I got older.

I sympathise, I have had leg cramps from time to time all my adult life, always during the night.
Take care with the water intake though, that is a lot of water and too much can cause other problems.

If you get the leg cramps, grab your toes and pull them forward. It helps.
