Hi everyone,
I noticed a small bump on Aka's wing last week, I didn't really think anything of it because he was preening and his feathers were all puffed up. Then today, I noticed this (below). The internet tells me it could be a blood wart? I will contact the breeder tomorrow and ask him if he's seen anything like this, but I thought I'd ask here as well. Have any of you seen this before? My first instinct is tumor but I generally do worst-case-scenario first.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: It feels like a claw.... It also looks a little like a claw at the end, with the scaly part of the foot the visible part. The 'claw' part is hidden under the feathers on the right of it.

It is difficult to tell from the photos. It could be a feather cyst when a new feather doesn't emerge properly. I wouldn't have thought it was a tumour in that location.

Hi Jane,
Thanks, I will ask the breeder later today.
If it is a feather cyst, will he need to go to the vet? I assume so.

If it feels like a claw it could be a malformed feather. They grow encased in a protective sheath. Will he let you spread his wing out so you can get a better look?

Hi Jane, sorry I only saw your message now.
He did let me spread out his wing a little (not too much because he's not a fan of me touching his wings in general, even before the bump). From what I saw it definitely looked like a malformed feather still in the sheath. I made an appointment with the vet for next week (the week of the 7th - 11th of Feb) because that was the only time they could see us.
Then the day before yesterday it was just gone. I think he might have opened the sheath while preening that morning. He was a little bit sore so I put him in a box with paper so I could watch him but after an hour or so he was fine. I'm keeping the vet's appointment though, I want them to make sure it's not going to hurt him in any other way (I could see the piece of the damaged sheath under his other feathers) and this will also be his first check-up at the vet. His behaviour didn't change at all, even after he nicked it. He was still eating and talking and playing like normal.

So we went to the vet to see what was wrong. It was a feather cyst which the vet removed and cleaned the wound since he said it was a bit infected. He also gave me a powder to put in Aka's water to help the stunted feathers around the feather cyst grow properly.
It was a good first trip to the vet, even though it was the first time Aka bit me properly. That was totally my fault, I should have handed him to the vet instead of the vet taking him from me. I felt really guilty after that so I don't mind the bite as punishment. Next time I will hand him over instead. We also clipped his wings, but just the first four flight feathers on each wing. I wasn't 100% if we wanted to clip but Aka managed to nearly fly out of the kitchen window last week so it's probably better. It took a while for him to get used to it though

I am glad to hear it has been treated.
Mitzi had to go the vet in 2019 after an egg laying episode. I took her in an animal carrier and the vet got her out and put her back. She could be heard growling loudly. I was in the waiting room. Someone else came into the waiting room with a box from which growling was coming. I asked him if he had an African Grey in it and he said he had. They were only the two Greys there at the time but everyone could hear them!

I am glad everything is good with Aka.
When Chy goes for a checkup, I hold her while the vet wraps a towel around her. It goes well. Chy usually curses at the vet. She has made up her own curse words. She usually says, "Poo on you". She makes everyone at the vet laugh. She keeps saying that she wants to go home.

Thanks Jane and Haz,
I'm also happy, I just wish I could have gone sooner.
Haha, a vet full of growling Grey's, the vet probably went to the back and put on his extra-long and thick vet coat. That's kinda cute though, Aka doesn't growl much. The only time I have heard him growl is when he sees something new which isn't very often.
When he gets new toys I let him see them on the table and/or floor for the day after I buy them and then I let him touch and beak the stuff when he is out of his cage to give me the A-OK to put them in his cage. One exception was when we went to a water park over the weekend. When I put my hat on, he growled at me until I took it off. He did that every time I put it on so I had to put it on behind his back and take it off when I turned the travel carrier to face me :') I need to go for a haircut next week, I'm hoping he won't growl at me until he gets used to my shorter hair, since it's currently quite long.
Maybe I should do that next time, Aka also bit the vet so he will probably be grateful. That's so cute haha, and clever. There are a few training videos and tips on here about training your parrot to sit comfortably in a towel, maybe I should start that training before our next visit.
