We've been fixing up a house, and plan on moving into it over the next two weeks. I bought Maui a new cage, and once painting is finished (this week), we'll move her to the new place. I'm almost sure she will have a seizure during the move, but I'm hoping to keep it as low stress for her as possible.
I'm going to keep the large double macaw cage for the patio. She was never nearly as mobile as Manzi, so I doubt I'd build a whole aviary again for her. Even in the double macaw cage, she only stays on one half.
Manzi chewed up the last travel cage we had, but for Maui, she's better off in a cardboard box where she can't see out at all. Then she panics less.

That's exciting, I hope the move goes well.
When I had to take Mitzi to the vet in 2019 I was surprised how easily she went in it. I made a fabric cover for it using light coloured cotton so she couldn't see out.
What sort of paint is it? I am wondering about fumes.

Chy has a stainless steel travel cage that’s in a heavy canvas backpack. Three sides can be rolled up and snapped to see out or rolled down and snapped closed. She is very vocal while travelling in it.
If we moved, Chy would have to learn a new address. Knowing her, she would probably mix parts of the new address with our current address. I should have taught her my cell phone number instead of the home number which would change if we moved. Too late now.
Enjoy your new home.

Yeah, I'm worried about the painting too, well and all the construction in general. We're going to leave the windows open for several days after the painting, before moving Maui.
The move is only 1.5 hrs away.

We're finally getting settled into our new place (and my internet is hooked back up). Maui really struggled with the move the first week or so. But now she's settling in and back to chatting away and whistling to all visitors.
She did have a seizure when I put her in the car, but by the time we were at the new house, she had recovered somewhat.

That's good. I am glad to hear you are settled in and Maui is now back to her usual self.
