I never knew that spiders groom themselves by running their legs through their mouths. I presume they keep a tally of which legs they have done. Their legs have paws called tarsi and these have hundreds of thousands of tiny hairs and a pair of claws. Web making spiders (not all spiders make webs) have an extra claw which helps to hold and position the silk thread. The silk is produced by up to seven glands in their abdomen. These glands make proteins which are used to make the silk.
