Mitzi has been very broody in recent weeks. After the egg laying episode in 2019 I have kept an eye on her, checking her abdomen and weighing her. Yesterday her abdomen was swollen and she had put on weight so I covered them up early. This morning there was an egg on the floor of the cage. When she laid eggs in 2019 they were blood stained but this time it was completely clean and intact, so must have been easier this time around. She had to go the vet in 2019 and have an abdominal scan, blood tests etc. I am hoping she will be alright this time. I will continue covering them up early.
P.S. I weighed her yesterday and she was 540g. I just weighed her today and she is 532g. I weighed the egg and it is 8g, the exact difference. I didn't weigh the first egg she laid in 2019 because it was broken but the second weighed 20g!

I hope this will be the only egg this time.

I remember when Maui laid eggs, a behaviorist recommended to keep it for a bit in case it was fertile. I said that the birds hated each other at that time, but he said that even in those cases, sometimes they've mated.

I have left the egg in. It was in the middle of the cage but I have moved it to the corner and shown Mitzi where it is. In 2019 Monty showed an interest in the eggs but they have both ignored this one so far.
I am hoping the problems Mitzi had last time were due to the eggs being bigger.
