I have mentioned in other threads about two cats who come in my garden. There is a tabby and a mainly white one with a grey tail and some grey markings. Neither are very friendly but I talk to them if I see them and the tabby will sometimes let me stroke its head. The white one was in the garden today, I had accidentally disturbed its sunbathing when I went to water a shrub. It just walked off and settled down in another spot. I went up to it and it stayed put, looked at me, licked its lips and wagged its tail. The tabby does exactly the same thing and I don't know what it means.
I know when dogs lick their lips it means they are nervous but dog tail wagging means they are happy. I don't think cat tail wagging means that.
Any suggestions from cat owners?

I always thought that a cat wagging its tail means that he or she is not happy.
