Afternoon everybody!
Another question from me!
Just wondering the best pellets to feed Bo. When he came to me (one week ago) he was on a fully seeded diet and had never had fruit/veg (he is 5 and a half months) I have introduced fruit/veg gradually due to his age and him never eating them before. He absolutely loves veggies and enjoys throwing certain fruit around his cage, my main worry is the pellet side of the diet. He currently has a small amount of 'PSITTACUS' pellets mixed in with seed as this is what he is used to and the pellets were sold to me at a shop which stocks them.
When I got my parolette I fed him on harrisons pellets and he loved the birdie bread, is harrisons recommended for CAG's also? Just wondering your experience with diet for your birds.
Also a question about best practice for blood feathers, he has not had one yet but want to be prepared for when it does happen to save me freaking out and traumatizing the bird! I am in the UK and have a friend in the USA who told me she just pulls her birds feather out which is bleeding and leaves him to recover, is this normal or should I be taking him to a vet? I would have thought to take him to the vet but just thought i would ask how you guys deal with blood feathers if and when they happen.
Thank you for your advice!

Yes AGs can have Harrisons pellets. For their dry mix mine have Tidymix which is a human grade mix of 32 ingredients and I add Tropican Lifetime pellets. Recently I got Zupreem natural pellets which Mitzi likes but she eats mostly Nutriberries which are small balls consisting of a mix of grains, nuts, seeds, pellets, fruit and veg, with added vitamins.
Mitzi rarely has problems with feathers although she did have a bleed a few months ago for the first time but I was out at the time. Monty has always had problems with his feathers because he can't grow primary flight feathers and they fall out malformed, sometimes with quite a lot of bleeding. I have never taken either of them to the vet about it. Monty is 28 and Mitzi is 26.

Chy has Zupreem pellets, Nutriberries, and lots of fresh fruits, vegetables and nuts. She loves egg and bbq chicken.
When she loses a blood feather, it is usually from a crash. That hasn’t happened for a long time. The bleeding doesn’t last long and stops by itself. I do have a powder to use if necessary but have never needed it.

Hi all,
I'm sorry I don't have anything to add regarding advice or whatever, but what the hell is a blood feather?

When feathers are developing they have a blood supply and if the feather gets damaged during this phase they bleed. As the feather develops the blood supply retreats and the feather matures.
