We all know our Greys understand what we say to them but I have often wondered exactly how much they understand. I have often said something to them but not directly and I still get a response. For example, the other night I had Mitzi on her back on my lap. She was lying there preening her front and her legs and I said casually and not directly to her: "You haven't been weighed for a while" and she immediately started to get up and put her foot out to be taken into the kitchen and weighed.
Our Greys who talk can use language in context, they don't just repeat words. If you think how much language children understand even before they can talk, and also how it is usually the case that we understand more of a foreign language than we can actually speak (unless a fluent speaker of course) it makes sense that our Greys also understand a lot, maybe even everything we say.

Well Ash knows what some words and phrases mean, and uses them when she needs to. For instance, when she wants go to bed, "wanna go to bed? come on, lets go upstairs, wanna go to bed." And if we ignore her for too long, she'll just get down off her perch and start walking up the stairs. Or, when she is doing something she likes and doesn't want to be moved or bothered she'll say "bye woos!" and hunker down, like if I'm trying to get her to come inside after we've been sitting in the backyard. So they know for sure, but they also play stupid I think and just ignore things like, don't go poo, next thing you know there is poo on the floor.

Sid understands if he sees me preparing food, he says'want some' but I tell him it's inside and point to his cage. In he goes looking for it. Also at night when he wants his nightly tickles which he gets when the quaker goes to bed first, he will start saying 'night night night night' until Pete is covered, then Sid flies to me for his time. They truly do understand words , and appropriate timely. Love them so much.

Chyloe often speaks in context.
She always knows who is leaving and says, "Bye Mommy (or Daddy), see you later. Be good".
When she is begging for food, she says, "It's good eh".
When someone is annoying her, she tells them to move.
When she wants food, she says she is hungry and wants her supper.
When I ask someone what they would like to eat, Chy starts making suggestions.
She greets family members by name when they come in the house.
When my grandson was wearing diapers and I was changing him, Chy would say, "did he poo".
When I am on the phone placing an order, Chy starts giving her name, address and telephone number.
There are so many examples, I could go on and on.
