Hello everyone, My CAG Pumkin is 11 years old, had him since he was 4 weeks old, weaned him myself so he's been a pellet food since then (Zupreem Fruit Blend) lately he's been playing with his food spilling it everywhere and sometimes he'll eat a few pellets and spill the rest. don't know if he is just tired of it or just likes to annoy me. here is his food routine at about 8 or 9 am fruit loops cereal, at 12 pm fresh fruit Pears or Mellon, at around 6 pm some cooked Rice with mixed vegetables. all the while he has constant bottomless Zupreem in his other bowl through out the day which is the only food that he'll play with and spill. Today I got him some Safflower Gold made by Higgins and plan to mix it with the Zupreem and see what happens, of course more Zupreem than seeds because I still believe he gets more nutrition with pellets than just seeds. Note: A couple of months ago I bought him a new cage in which the feeder bowls are on the inside of the cage. his old cage the feeder bowls were on the outside of the cage. still had the problem but not as much.
Looking foreword to hear you guys and gals input.
Thanks Dave and Pumkin (spelled correctly)

It is quite common for them to do this. Mitzi does it from time to time. I call it the lucky dip game because she puts her foot in the bowl, grabs a footful of food and drops it on the floor.
It might be that he has realised you will keep topping up the bowl of Zupreem and he sees it as a game, enjoying the sound of it falling on the floor. He might be filling up on the other food and then just playing with the pellets.
I also wonder if sometimes different batches of pellets taste slightly different and this leads to wastage.

Thanks for your input Jane, and I see by your Avatar that you have the same cage design as I where the food bowl is on the inside of the cage as I was describing in my post. Thanks Again. Dave and Pumkin
