Hello and welcome to the forum. It could be due to molting. Have you noticed any new feathers coming in there or anywhere else, they would look and feel like little needles.

Could be a molt.
Beaker's head feels like a pin cushion lately.

I panicked the first time I saw that on Manzi. It happened when he was 5 years old. He had been through many molts. It doesn't happen that often, but every so often, his molt seems to be badly timed and he gets bald spots.
Your guy is probably just fine. It should grow back within a few weeks.

HAHAHA two days after I wrote my first reply, Beaker is dropping feathers EVERYWHERE!
Here is a suggestion, NEVER wear black shirts when your AG is preening while molting.
He is looking thin up top also.
Not bald, but thin.

Haha. Even without molting, my birds leave a white/light gray streak on my black clothes when I cuddle them.
