Ruby, my 2.5 year old generally angelic TAG, has recently taken a strong dislike of the shower. I have a perch in the shower that she used to sit on rather contentedly and I'd use the spray extension to give her a nice soak. Those days are gone - long gone.
She now will try (and usually succeed) in flying up and out of the shower stall. It usually takes 5 or more attempts to get her back in and I think the only reason we ultimately are successful is she eventually gets too tired to fly any more - she definitely is burning up a lot of energy with her "escapes". I've adjusted the water pressure and temperature, ... tried letting her stay on my shoulder (which she used to like in the shower), ... tried just letting her walk on the floor of the shower. She hates all of it. Doesn't matter if me or my g/f goes in with her either.
Meanwhile I bought one of those water spray misting bottles designed for birds. Oh boy .... point that thing at her and prepare for full-on attack mode. You don't even have to spray any water - she knows what's coming and launches an impressive (and unwelcome) assault!
What is strange (final piece of the puzzle?) is that, after finally succeeding in getting her showered, she'll come down to her water dish and proceed to give herself a tremendous bird bath. She'll stick her head in, feathers, ... water goes flying everywhere. But she only does this AFTER she's been showered. So in a sense, it's a "lose / lose". The shower is a battle, and then there's a big water mess to clean up after her "secondary" shower. Of the 2, the former is by far the worse problem - we're used to "bird messes" of various sorts haha!
Don't know if there's anything that says "Terrible 2's" more than this, but any advise or wisdom is appreciated!
Thanks!
Chris
