Our daughter and husband took last week off so we had a break from taking care of our grandson. We took the opportunity to go away. When we travel, our neighbour looks after Chyloe. He is retired military and very meticulous.
When we returned, the neighbour told us that Chy had been reluctant to come out of the cage and he had to coax her. She has known him all her life so that was unusual for her to hesitate. We asked him if he had opened the full door or just the drop-down top half of the door. Seems he opened the full door when Chy is used to using the drop-down section which she sits on.
We told the neighbour that was probably why she hesitated to come out. The neighbour then said something priceless. He asked us why Chyloe didn't tell him about the door.
Chy is extremely intelligent. It is easy to forget that she is a bird without the full human vocabulary.

I think Mitzi tries to communicate by telepathy. She will sometimes stare at me so intently as if she expects me to know exactly what she wants.
