Jacko has lost some feathers on one side now he can't fly how long will take him to get his feathers back

Are these feathers that have molted? With molted feathers the new ones ensure that the bird can always fly unless there is some problem with growing new feathers.

Unfortunately, that is what happened to Chyloe. When she was a baby, she lost the flight feathers on her left wing. Each time she grows a new one on that side, she loses it when she flaps her wings so she cannot fly.
With normal moulting, the new feathers grow in as the old ones come out and, as Jane says, the bird can always fly.

Monty can't grow primary flight feathers, he can't fly.
Imping is a method of attaching feathers to the wing using donor feathers, splints and glue into the existing feather shafts. It is quite commonly used in falconry.
