So I have noticed that our CAG Scarlett has red feathers on her wings, only a couple on her right wing and just a small spot of red on her left. Also her tail feathers do not look as bright as most I see on this site and online. I'm guessing the faded tail feathers are do to her age, she is about 25 or 26. I haven't seen any others with red on their wings, any ideas on what that is all about? I can get pics up later tonight if needed.

There is nothing wrong. This is unusual but not abnormal. Greys who have red feathers in with the grey feathers are known as red factor Greys. Monty is the other way - he has a grey feather in his red tail.

My CAG has red feathers on shoulders and legs where he plucked himself after our conure died. Not all new feathers are red just a few in these areas.

Those Red Factor Greys are beautiful.
Scarlett has not had any plucking issues that I'm aware of, but at her age there is no telling. It could be red regrowth, who knows... for what ever reason, it's pretty. As soon as I figure out how to post pics, I'll post a few.

Scarlett doesn't seem to like the camera so I haven't been able to many good pictures of her red feathers, but I got a picture that shows how faded her tail feathers are. They are almost orange instead of red. Is this a deficiency, or due to age, or...?

Also the previous owner clipped her wings herself. She said that she has had parrots in the past and knew how to do it. They look pretty hacked up to me.
Are they supposed to look like this. Can someone show a comparison of proper and not proper wing clipping?

Can someone show a comparison of proper and not proper wing clipping? They shouldn't really look like that. With wing clipping the primary flight feathers are the ones that are trimmed but she has left the two outer ones so that the wings don't appear to have been clipped when the wings are at rest. It is done like that purely for cosmetic reasons but it can lead to those feathers getting damaged. Jane

This is how our first grey, Max, was clipped. We do not clip Chyloe as she cannot grow flight feathers on one wing so cannot fly. Attachments:
