I just got my new friend. His name is Loki. He was born on February 14, of 11. I have had him for almost 2 weeks. I have a few questions, 1. It looks like his beak is cracked. What needs to happen. Will it fall off? Or does it need to be trimmed? And how long will it take to regrow? 2. How do I know what new foods he likes? He just takes most food from me and throws it. It that normal?
Thanks to anyone who can help this newbie

Hello and welcome to the forum. Can you post a photo? The beak might not be cracked, beaks can sometimes be quite rugged looking and ridged rather than cracked. It can take time to accept new foods. What is his current diet?

The beak grows in layers. It can sometimes look cracked when one layer becomes chipped. When Chyloe goes to the vet for her checkup, the vet scrapes the chipped areas and smooths the beak surface.
Keep trying various foods. You will know he likes it when he gobbles it down. Sometimes you need to offer new foods repeatedly before he will try it.

I don't think that is a crack, from what I can see I think it is just the layers of the beak creating that appearance.
