Dear All,
i hope everybody is fine.
Last week i just purchased two African grey one male & one female. From Wednesday till Thursday when ever i am sitting in front of them they were screaming even when they saw me & my family members they were screaming . Then i called that shop guy from where i purchased he said to me they are ready for breeding so you have to attach a nest box with the cage. On Friday morning i attached the nest box with the cage and after one hour Male & Female went inside. From Friday till today they are in nest box sometimes male is coming outside for food and again go inside the nest box.
Yesterday i check if there is any Eggs in the nest box but i didn't find anything when i open the nest box they started screaming again.
This is my first time with African grey and i don't know what i have to do. Kindly help me and let me know why they both are in nest box or what i have to do to become more friendly with them.
Regards, Anis Arif.

Welcome to the forum.
Do not take this the wrong way, but I would not have bought a breeding pair of greys if I had no experience.

You need to find a local person who can help you. I have had a variety of parrots for over 40 years and I would not try and breed any parrots unless I had some one close who could help.
Where are you located? Maybe someone on this forum can help find someone near you.

Hello and welcome to the forum. It sounds like they are not at all tame and therefore they will scream like that. Also, Greys can be nervous and shy and need time to settle into their new surroundings which is probably why they are staying in the nest box at the moment. Do you know how old they are and whether they have bred before? Greys are choosy about their mates and any two won't necessarily breed.

The breeder I got Beaker from has specific breeding pairs, that is birds that are for the sole purpose of making other parrots.

Most parrot breeders have specific pairs of birds that do nothing more then make little parrots. They are not pets or companions and have minimal human contact. I think this is what you have. If you wanted a pet, IMO you should have got one bird. Especially if you don't have any previous experience.

Its mean that they will not be friendly with me ... only they will breed and makes babies right ? Maybe. You should find out from the person you got them from if they were a breeding pair, as it sounds like that is what you have.

I asked that guy and he told me the pair is only for breeding you cant train them. Now since 2 weeks they are in nest box looking healthy but still there is no eggs there.

If they are 4 to 5 years old they are only just coming into sexual maturity so still very young in terms of breeding. They do like to choose their own mates, do you know if they were already together as a pair or just selected as a male and a female when you bought them?
