Greetings all! I recently adopted 3 CAGs. I did not exactly mean to get 3. The first 2 were left behind by their owner after his battle with cancer. They had been locked in their cage with no interaction for nearly 2 years. They are Ringo (15 years old) and Gracie (14 years old). They were both in the same cage, but I got Gracie her own cage after I adopted them and I keep them in the same room. Then I saw another CAG on Craig's list. I went to visit and found he was in a horrible situation. His name is Tucker (2 years old). He was in a horder's home with 4 children. They were smokers and the house was only about 500 sqr ft. It was horribly dirty. His cage was caked with waist and rotten food. They only ever fed him table food they were eating, including chocolate! They needed $500 to pay their rent. I happily gave it to them to rescue poor tucker. So, now I have 3. I also have cats and dogs. I do my best to get them out of their cages at least 3 or 4 hours a day. They are a little jealous of each other. So I keep Tucker upstairs. Gracie and Tucker have bonded very much to me in a very short time, less than a month. Ringo always steps up and wants to sit on my hand, but he wants no part of being petted yet. He prefers to stay in his cage, but I make him get out every day.
I love this forum. I have learned so much on here! My latest thing is to get Tucker into a flight suite. It has not gone well so far. But I have only been trying for 2 days. :-) He will need to get some more trust with me first I think.

Welcome to the forum. Thank you for rescuing those poor birds. It is great that they are settling in well.
Good luck with getting Tucker into a flight suit. My first grey wore one with no problem. I tried to put one on Chyloe while she was still a baby. My sweet gentle girl tried to bite the stuffing out of me. I eventually gave up and only take her out in her travel cage now. I might give the harness another try one day.
Looking forward to hearing your stories.

Thanks Haz! Maybe you have a suggestions for me. My new Grey, Tucker is very sweet, unless he thinks you are taking him to his cage. Then he bites me really hard. He wont stop, it draws blood. The only way he will stop is if I yell. I do not want to yell, it scares him. But he wont let go of my bloody hand unless I do! The rest of the time, he is amazing, he lets me pet him, hold him, snuggle. But wow, he hates going to that cage!!! I reward him when I get him in there finally verbally and with treats. But its not helping so far. I got him used to a glove, so he can bite it instead of me. But I want him to stop biting all together. Maybe just more time??? My first grey hated going in his cage. He was a Velcro bird. If the cage was open, he was on me. I tried putting him in the cage but leaving the door open to show him it was not a prison. I always put a treat in his dish to entice him. Sometimes I had to use a spare perch to wrangle him in. That might spare your hands.
I am lucky with Chyloe as she usually goes straight in the cage when I ask her to go in her house.
