Hi fellow bird lovers!
Just want to introduce myself...my name is Jim and I am a 57 yr old male trucker and I live in CT. My brother sent me an email with this link and I am glad he did!
I have been a bird lover since before my teens lol..I started with raising a common house sparrow that fell from a tree, then at about 14 yrs old my mom got me a 'keet for my birthday, his name was "wally" because of the way his whiskers hung from his face he looked like a walrus lol..One night he was on my moms shoulder and she didn't know it,and she went out the back door..there went Wally, into the evening sky..sighhhh
In my middle 20's and married I would still go to a pet store and look at the BIG BIRDS and I met Smokey..she is a wild caught Timneh Grey that was about six months old,and I have had he nearly 30 yrs. She is,to this day, afraid of hands! she will only get on mine if its the last thing she can do,but as soon as she gets a chance she jumps right off woo'ing at me in displeasure. She however is very talkative, uncanny on how she knows what to say and when to say it. A year after getting Smokes I picked up Amy,my Blue Front. She was just a pup at 16 weeks old and was easy to tame. I fell in love with her the moment she laid her head down on my lap for me to scratch it! She is a good talker and not that much of a screamer like amazons can be.
I love forward to making friends and trying to help with problems and share stories..Can I attach pics to a post on this forum? I'd like to share a pic of Smokes and Amy.
