This sad sack is named Fred, a 26 yo Cherry Head conure. Not quite the salty dog as Lucky Doodle. Fred came to me via a friend from Alabama. He had been with his "mom" for 20 years, then she passed away and a male member took Fred in and feed him parakeet seed and when drunk teased him. The lady's granddaugher then took him in and got him in better shape, but due to circumstances, I have him now. Poor baby has major beak damage. Took to vet last week and had a blood panel which came back surprisingly WNL and starting to grind the beak. Next visit on Wed. Hubby says rhinoplasty for the bird - HA! Fred-rica, will never be perfect, and w/o xrays doc suspects permanent bone/skull damage as well, etc. We are shooting for eating comfort here. Been going above and beyond on soft foods, supplements, etc. Can this bird honk - HA!
