I find myself checking this thread many times today in hopes of some kind of turn around with positive news.
Preston, I've missed you and your wisdom for such a long time and always anxiously awaiting your return. I can't stand the thought of you not being here ever again.

I visited Preston today. He knew me, but made no sense or would often pretend to eat something or grab at something. He would often laugh like something was funny. It was sad buy joyful to laugh with him. And smile, he'd love to smile at what you'd say to him. I'd like to be selfish and keep all of your birds feathers, but I'm temped to have them cremated with him. Thoughts folks??? Of course hospice cannot predict just how much longer. But while he is here please feel free to email me any wishes you'd like to share with him. I know some of you have tried to call him, but I don't think he can make sense of a phone conversation. Deepest regards, Chyrel chyrel@rangecreek.com

Thank you for the update Chyrel. I have sent you another email. Apart from the times when he was in hospital Preston has always been here to give help, guidance and support, both on and off the forum. He is Godfather to all the birds and even when he was not feeling well and in pain he would always be here when an emergency arose.
Thinking of you all Jane

Thank you for taking the time to post. You know how I feel -- keep some feathers as reminders and put the rest with Preston. If you can find any feathers from Andi, that would be nice too. I don't know if he saved one. Maybe add a photo of him and Andi. My best to you and your Mom

I am so terribly sorry to hear the news. I couldn't respond earlier, I have been traveling to the Netherlands to visit my folks. Jane sent me two emails...
Preston has been my first grey buddy even before this forum came to be, I can't believe he is slipping away like this now. He is an awesome guy, as Jane said the godfather of all parrots and always ready to help.
My thoughts to out to his family in the first place, please know and remember that Preston is one of the most well loved people around here.

Chyrel, I did not ever speak with Preston but I have read most of his posts since I joined the forum. I know how deeply he felt about each of our birds. He would not know my name or my bird's name, Ruby. Anyway, I sent a card and some of Ruby's red and gray feathers which my wife adores. She picked out the best ones for Preston. For me personally, it would be fitting for Ruby's feathers to be with Preston if that is what you and your family decide. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Preston's mother, Preston and family. These are very sad times for this forum. All my best to you all,
Tom

jane emailed me and its taken me until now to be able to write this....its still difficult.... chyrel, please give dr P a hug from me & lucky. he will be missed, hugely. i guess that, ultimately, that's all that one can really ask for when we go - that we will be missed. keep some feathers for yourself, but, i think yes, let the rest join him.

Preston was very alert yesterday and I was able to read all the email and express all your wishes. He was even able to tell stories about each and every one of you. Better yet he would correct my pronunciation of some of your birds names. He hasn't been able to do that in weeks. I also got to discuss taking feathers with him to heaven. He was very happy about that. So please know that he remembers all of you and some of your special times with him. Even a very special peace lilly! That day was priceless. Blessing to you all for your kindness!!! Chyrel

Thank you Chyrel. It means a lot to know that he remembers us and you take the time out to let us know all about it. I'm so glad you were able to spend quality time and have a conversation with him. I am thinking about him often.
Hearing about the feathers is bittersweet...I'm happy he likes the idea but I don't like thinking that it has come to the point of conversations about cremation...it makes me very, very sad.
