Hello Everyone, and happy St. Patty's Day (actually, it's not St. Patty's day yet here in Michigan, as it is only 11:00pm on March 16th, but soon enough...) . Well, I have another question about the imfamous Pearl. She is doing great, and she has chosen me to bond with as I mentioned before. However, whenever I take her out, almost immediately she wants back in her cage. I have not forced her out, she jumps right on my hand, but then when we walk to another part of the living room, she begins looking around to make a flight for her cage! I only got her about 6 days ago, so maybe she is still just adjusting, but is this normal?? I really hope that someday she'll want to stay out with me. Any suggestions? I have fed her the treats she loves while she was out, scratched her head and talked and played with her, and she seems to like it all, but she just doesn't appear to want to be away from her cage for any length of time! Help! Thanks, Ranae

I think this is just because everything is still new to her and she sees the cage as her haven. Greys take time to get used to new things and situations; six days isn't very long so it is normal. The ideal situation is when they enjoy both being in the cage, feeding and playing with toys, and out of the cage spending time with you but this will come with time.

my pepper has a wooden box that she " travels" in around the house with me because of the anxiety thing from being away from her cage. She is content as long as she is in the box or can get to it in a hurry. Funny bird

Hmmm... Definitely something to think on. Thank you both Ranae and Pearl
