I was outside with Manzi yesterday when some people shouted towards me "Did you find her?" I didn't know who they were talking to because they were quite a ways away, but I didn't see anyone else around. Then they approached me and a woman then, obviously upset, told me she just lost her CAG and that she thought maybe I had found her, but she saw that it definitely wasn't hers.
I know how horrible it feels to have your bird fly away, so I was helping her yesterday. She said her bird was clipped, but it was a bit windy and she just took off. Anyways, by the evening I was helping her post signs and she got a call that it was found down town. I thought all had ended well untill this morning I saw a cage outside in the field where her CAG took off. Then at class my TA knew I had an AG and asked if I had lost mine because he saw it in the tree. He showed me where, but then she flew off again. I called the woman right away. So, she found it again (it flew by the river which is surrounded in trees) but couldn't get to it.
Her boyfriend climbed the tree but the CAG got scared and took off again. This time they couldn't find it. I got my husband to look with me (because he could do a typical grey whistle, while I can't even whistle at all). We haven't found her and last I heard, the woman was finally taking the first break since she first lost her bird. I really hope she finds it. I was trying to give her all the advice I knew:
-Post an ad on craigslist
-Put up flyers (make sure they say something like: needs daily medication)
-Leave cage out. Look near where the bird first took off because many times they fly back there.
Unfortunately, the CAG keeps flying and landing high up in trees. As soon as someone climbs it though the bird just flies off. Is there any other way to get a bird down from a tree? They even have a net and were thinking that if they got close enough they could net it, but they have not been able to get close enough.
Any other ideas?
