Jake has been talking for about 6 months, mimicking things we have taught him. This morning when I uncovered him he looked right at me and said clear as a bell "Did you make a poop?" I was astounded. For a second I wondered where he learned that, then I realized I say it to him every morning before I open his cage door. (I'm sure most of you are familiar with how big and sloppy their first poop is in the morning. ) I never let him out until he makes that first one in his cage. Oh my God, it was hilarious!

I know what you mean about being funny. You never know what is going to come out. For example, Max was trying to chew a window frame. I told him to stop it. He said, "Max is a good boy; what's your problem!"
The other day, I was walking away from him. He leaned out and grabbed my arm with his beak. It hurt so I asked him why he did that. He said, "Max loves Mommy". So I asked him if he loves me, why did he hurt me? He replied, "It's cool".
He keeps us laughing all the time.

Oh my god, Kelly, that really is hilarious.
You're going to have to work on your morning greeting -- at least a 'Good Morning' before you begin to discuss business.
Or maybe now you can start to work on modelling the response you'd like him to make to your morning poop question: perhaps something like, "Why yes, I have. Thank you for your interest."
Morocco surprised us the other day: when Dh sat down with Morocco on one hand and a gin and tonic in the other, Morocco said, "A glass of water?" He is very interested in water and many of his verbalizations are about that for some reason.

My Max interacts with my parents' gray a lot. Max has a tendency to be annoying. As soon as he starts to make any annoying sounds, the parents' bird, Kirby, immediately begins with the
"HEY HEY.. STOP IT! Stop. NO! NO!, You're a badddd baddd baddd badd bird"
Oddly, max actually does shut up. If I were to yell at him, he'd keep going, but not with Kirby the police bird around.
Believe it or not, Max is actually at his best behavior on these visits. I complain to my parents alot about how bad and noisy max can be, but they don't believe me.
