<-- still weirded out. As I am sitting here, typing on my computer I hear his low voice go, "You're okay!" and then he went back to making bird noises. It was quite random and I am sure I probably won't hear that again. But I had just used that phrase YESTERDAY on him. He was perching on the door of his cage and I went to get him but he fell off and fell to the floor. He was okay luckily. But I scooped him up and held him close and said, "You're okay!" and now.. he says it back?

Is that common? I watch some YOUTUBE of greys and they make a lot more noise. Toku is rather quiet. (Not silent) but he's a quiet, mysterious boy Even his sounds are not the same.. so it was rather odd that he just came out and said, "You're Okay!" for some reason. He has also said, "Hello" and a nice big burp. (I should probably write these down!) lol. Is that unusual for a grey to bust out with a phrase without so much practice?? Could it have been on accident?

Could it have been on accident? I doubt it was on accident.. These birds are amazing at picking up sounds.. Voice included. When my son came over recently with his peachfaced loved bird Cesar had that birds song in literally minutes.. So accurate you would not be able to tell if it was Cesar or the Lovebird.. Voice is nothing more then sounds.. Greys MASTER sounds.. No it was not an accident.. Your job now is to reinforce the words you heard so he understands to keep saying them.. This is how it works.

They practice by mumbling, and obviously when your not around. Once they have the voice it takes less practice.

So it's very possible he's practicing while I'm at work.. lol. Ive heard him mumble a lot.. and he usually mumbles rather loudly w hen we're watching movies. It's just odd (to me) that heard it and then said it that quickly. But then again, that's pretty common. I just thought it was strange coming from a baby.

My little genius!

Allison, it's so exciting when they say those first few words. Before you know it, Toku will be saying so much, you'll have trouble remembering everything he can say! ;D

So far he's said quite a bit, the majority all being tomorrow. I was dumbfounded. And he doesn't talk around Forrest (my boyfriend) either.. just me!! Makes me feel slightly insane, lol.
