Kito has blown me away in the past with two things, now he has a brand new one.
Months ago, I would shake my head and say "shake your brain". For months, he has said "shake your brain" every time he shakes his head and then he applauds himself.
Same thing with "shake your body"....he imitated my body movements and says "shake your body' (and applauds) every time he shakes out and flickers the tail.
Last night, he surprised me once again. Lately, I've been using my fingers at my mouth imitating a "yawn". Last night he GOT IT and we did that back and forth 8 or 10 times. He would watch me intently, I would use my fingers as a yawn, then he would yawn. He NEVER yawns repeatedly -- he was watching me intently and COPYING me.
Do all Greys do this? It has really surprised me (pleasantly so).

Grey's are really smart birds and do things on command and know exactly when to say things...

My grey throws his head back and makes a drinking-sound when he sees me drinking. Sometimes he uses it when he's going to drink too, carefully watching me at the same time, like he's saying "Im going to drink now.. look!". They're really funny sometimes.

I have taught Manzi to do movements on command, but he hasn't just copied me. He can wave his foot "hi". He can lift both wings and now he also learned how to lift just one wing at a time. I give him verbal and hand signals for each "trick". I want him to eventually extend the one wing after lifting it and then wave the whole wing "hi". I am always trying to think of new tricks to teach Manzi. He hasn't ever just copied me. That would be cool!
Another member said she would point her finger and say bang when people left her apartment. Her grey was about 16 years old and she said one day he picked it up and began to "shoot" people with his foot after they left.

One of our greys, Darby, has learned a few things on command. He shakes hands on command, when asked to shake a toy, he goes over to one and pulls on it. He's just recently learned to "pop" his foot three times when I sing the words "one, two, three strikes you're out" in the song Take Me Out To The Ballgame. It really is amazing what they can learn.

Nikki does few things on command: shakes her wings, raises her leg, shakes her head, turns around, kisses me. I hope I'll find some more ideas of things to teach her, she learns fast.

Toku is young and to be honest with you, I haven't spent much time training him (more time just bonding) but now that he's been with me - I'm going to start officially training him to do things. Right now Toku can do a few things. Step up (although not ALWAYS but I know he knows it) Come here (But like a perpetual 2 year old.. they choose when not to) Gimmie a Kiss/Can I have a kiss? (Most of the time he kisses me) Shake it! (Shakes his head and ruffles his feathers) None of these have been taught/reinforced with treats although if I did train with treats, I am sure he would do it on command more willingly. Sorry those tricks aren't cool like yours, lol - but small steps first for the baby.
