HE SPEAKS!!!!!!!!! zeke has finally mastered his first real word! he is saying "hello, hello, hello, hello" ;D i say "finally" becuase he's been trying to get 'hello, good boy, good morning' and something else that i can't determine yet out for over a month now. i could 'hear' it as could my mother-in-law (my hubby and the kids made fun of me saying i was hearing things!) and a few others but the it was always in a jumble of other vocals and not super clear so i wasn't willing to say that he spoke yet. it's so cute, he says it over and over in a row when he does say it, likes he's still practicing. how exciting!!! he's 10 months old. guess you people know what you're talking about when you say 1 year is the usual talking time. it's a mix between a deep robotic/birdie voice that he says it in. i'm so proud. i've been telling everyone and my non-bird friends just don't appreciate it.

Congratulations! I am looking forward to hearing Sweet Pea say his first word. He is supposed to be 5 to 6 months old and I have heard him whistle and mumble a few words that I don't understand. I have only had him 2 weeks and I am really excited to have such a friend!

Yay for Zeke! You will probably see the floodgates open soon. My Mattys 13months and has about 20 phrases now. I think she started around 6-7 months. She picks up new stuff almost daily. The last thing I purposely taught her was "hubba hubba" I said it to her about 5 times one afternoon and she had it by the next morning. Once they get the different phonetics down I think new words can come pretty easy for them if they want. Be careful what you wish for though because it can be a double edged sword. Matty hasnt picked up the dogs bark yet but she coughs and belches like me. Im careful with the TV also. I actually use headphones to watch The Sopranos, or any other R rated movies with bad language.

Justin is so right! Once they start, they usually don't stop learning. Brody has picked up so many things it's crazy, and she continues to learn things every week. She now excuses herself after burping, tooting, coughing, sneezing. She swears like my boyfriend, which he thinks is funny. I'm not so amused... But she picks up a lot of his phone conversations where the "S" and "F" words pop out of his mouth quite often. She'll mumble in his voice and then drop one of those bombs. He's quite loud and she can hear him while he is upstairs. I think it's time he starts closing the door to his office when he's on the phone! Basically, if you don't want them to repeat it, don't let them hear it!

Yay!! I'm so proud of all the talkers! It is so fun when they start talking. MY favorite is "thirsty bird!" That's when we know to offer a drink if Talon is not near his own. And he's still saying Merry X-mas ho ho ho! I can't get him to say Happy Birthday tho. We have 6 birthdays in a year. It would be nice!! And what about I love you! Oh well... ;D

and it keeps on rolling.............
zeke now says "good boy" and "good morning" and he's starting to get his name down vocally too. it's funny when he says "boy" - he kinda pops the 'o' part of the word. what a fun time to watch him develop!!

Congratulations, how exciting!
Marlon is 10 months and is trying to say hello lately and a few other words. He went thru spurts. He tried to say a few words when he was around 5 months old and then stopped. One day when he was about 7-8 months he was on my shoulder and looked right at me and said "hi baby" clear as day. He has not said it again since. My husband thought i was crazy and hearing things lol . But he can beep, sqweek and make all sorts of noises from around the house. He meows like my new kitty, thank god he hasnt picked up on my dogs bark.
Lmao @ wearing headphones to watch T.V. that is hilarious ;D

A few weeks ago (maybe two) I was sitting on my couch and all of the sudden I hear a nice loud belch. I was the only one home and it wasn't me! Toku (Who is 4 months) did it. I told my boyfriend who was skeptical but (believed me none the less). A few days later we were sitting on the couch watching a movie and all of the sudden he lets out a small burp. "Who burped?" My boyfriend asks quizically. He then realized it was Toku! He has only done it twice so far. Toku also gets very "chatty" when we are watching movies. He'll say a lot of words that sound like he's trying to say something. He's said "Hello" about 2 times although could be just on accident. Anyhow, when I hear it, I always repeat it back to him by saying "Hello/Hi!" just so he knows he gets a reaction when he produces those sounds. He's four months so I'm not going to get impatient yet. I think he's probably on track with language development. Can't wait to hear his personality come through.

If your'e excited now wait until he makes up his first sentence from words he knows, but its a sentence you did not teach him. And he'll say when it makes perfect sence. One day many years ago I stood up from my chair to go up stairs to bed and Willis T. (my CAG) said in my exact vioce "are you going up stairs". Talk about being freaked out.
