Ya know, no matter how much you read on the internet you always wonder how much is exageration.
Well, yesterday, I found out the not only does Peanut have a very real human voice, but she is a ventriloquist as well.
I was watchin tv and suddenly someone said "hello" . There was no question in my mind that someone had poked there head into my backdoor and called out . Well, I got up off the couch and went to the back door and lo and behold "not a creature was stirring not even a mouse"
Peanut has never said hello before not even when shes doing her jabbering in the morning --(actually the day before I thought I had heard a faint hello but thought it was part of the tv prgram).
Everytime I think back about this incident I have to laugh to myself- I always suspected that the human imitations people talked about were mostly a glorified story. What a way to find out different

It's called reflecting sound, They produce sound just a tad higher than we can hear, and when it hits a surface that is resonant, it reflects back at a frequency we can hear, so in effect the sound did come from across the room. We have heard it, but our validation is the other birds looking for the non-existant visitor LOL. Dr. Bose discovered it before stereo was invented (late 50's); his speakers made things sound like they were all over the room. The short fall: very expensive, and the introduction of real stereo (early 60's) that gave the side to side image for way less. The technology stagnated, only used in studios until the surround sound craze, of course they are still expensive, but they are only a couple of hundred more. You get what you pay for. Sorry (off topic), the bird doesn't do that on purpose, but it does happens. Just think, I have two!

ok, speaking of high pitched noises.............
one of our son's phones has a high pitched sound that only those under 25 years of age can hear. it's an ear piercing sound that the kids can hear clear across the house. i can hear the noise when it's within 2 feet or so of my ear where as my husband can't hear it at all or can only hear it if it's literally right next to his ear (he's older then me). how odd is this???
we don't have a dog but my cats don't react and zeke (CAG) didn't seem to either. do you think they can hear the noise?
