I'm sitting here watching Nipper, one of my sun conures, feed my dog & giggle about it. She is actually laughing! Nipper doesn't talk, but she has a chuckle she does in the back of her throat. An evil little laugh like she knows she is doing something wrong ;D. I think she may have learned this from Gracie. Gracie will call Tucker or Abigail (miniature dachshunds) and throw food out of her bowl to them. Is anyone else feeding their dogs expensive pellets? It's like a contest to see how quickly and far the pellets can be scooped and tossed.

We don't feed the dogs but the chipmunks outside get Oliver's leftovers. The chipmunks are spoiled!

I think our dog has actuall lost weight since we became "bird people." All those fruits and vegetables are great for the waist line!!

My dogs will stop everything they are doing if they hear something hit the plastic runner under my birds cages. Then they totally sniff the ground all the way around the cages to find whatever it was that fell.
I, too, give the outside animals left overs. Everyday, when I clean out the cage bottoms, I dump them under a big tree in my front yard. My hubby laughed the first time he saw a dove outside eating a pellet, he said, "what are you doing now, converting the wild birds to pellets too?".

That's cool, I dump the old seed and bird food out for the wild critters too! It's always gone, like it was never even there! I'm glad that the food isn't going to waste.

My dog is constantly scaenging under the cage. She gets quite frustrated when a good nugget falls into the pan. She can see it and smell it but cant reach it....Darn!
Ive developed a problem with the wild critters though. 4-6 pigeons have taken up residence on my fire escape. Ive lived here five years and never had this happen. The only thing I can figure is that they hear Matty. They cant see her and she cant see them, but they are seperated by less than 5ft. I probably wouldnt care except that the corner of the fire escape that theyve taken over is directly above my front door! Ive been pooped on twice while stickin my keys in the door. Im gonna really be pissed when I get pooped on walking out the door for a night on the town. Theres also poop all over my front step and sidewalk. I hope Matty starts barking like the dog soon. That may help. The last thing Im gonna do is feed them Mattys leftovers!

Justin, Find a small electric fence module and put the two wires close together across the top rail of the escape. No more pigeons. In fact, if your interested I'll CAD up a design for you so you don't electrofy the whole fire escape! I have a small one at the house somewhere that I used before I made a 20 mile cattle fence; if I find it next trip you can have it.

I can see it now...Justin electrifies the pigeon area...Justin has a slip, instinctively grabs for the first thing to catch him and ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO!!!!!! I have tested electric fences that we kept cattle and horses in...boy...what a shocker! I have also been tased!!! Yes a real live geniuine Taser!!! Boy, oh, boy...Ol' Sparky will sure knock you on your @$$ in a hurry!!!!!! The worst part of it, is we had it recorded on the digital camera and my husband likes to show it to people at work, just in case a meeting is getting boring. There I am riding the lightning! He has also emailed it to multiple people much to my displeasure! The Taser training was over a year and a half ago and I still can't watch it with the sound on!!!
Sorry to get off on a tangent...it just conjured some very vivid memories and a few laughs!!!!

The first thing Twitch figured out when we brought him home was that if he threw food out of the cage, the dogs would come eat it. Then he'd make smoochie noises to them. Now he throws toys on the ground at them and waits for them to get yelled at! Little hoodlum! I caught him the other day throwing pellets out of his cage to get Shades to come over. He'd throw them and say "Come here!" then he started yelling to Piper "Piper! Come 'ere! Gimme a kiss" One of the first things he learned to say was "Guys gotta go out? Gotta go outside?!" This is what we say before bringing them out to potty. Luckily they don't pay attention to him when he talks.
