Very true, Flamingo- they do learn better from other birds. Hey, traci, don't give up- Louie will be 2 in September, and she's JUST started talking- just a few words, and P.J. just turned a year in March, and she doesn't say a thing. Boo will start, when he's ready. Funny thing, about a month before Louie started talking, I told her she better start, or I was gonna go back to the store and get my money back! Of course, I was only joking, but, maybe she thought I was serious!

My Kito, CAG, turned 2 years old on July 30. He has over 200 words in his sweet head. Is this unusual? I always write down new stuff daily or whenever he says something new and then type it on his list at work. Is this unusual? I sang "happy birthday to you" for a few days last week -- by the day before his birthday, he was already singing in the right notes "happy bird [pause] to you". EVERY thing I say he says right back lately. It's amazing, and I'm starting to wonder if he's unusually gifted with gab.

Kito certainly sounds very talented. I think it is a good idea to write down everything they say; once they get going they will often drop words or phrases in favour of others and might not repeat something for ages so it is good to have a record of everything they have ever said.

Thanks, Jane! You're so right. He seems to have a handful of favorites and changes them every couple of weeks as he learns new words. But by writing them down, I used the "find and replace" feature of the computer to actually count the different words and was astounded at how many he has actually said. Last night, he finally got PEEKABOO right and said it very loudly three times in a row. He had been saying "keepaboo" for several days and seemed so proud of himself to finally get it right!! Funny boy.

I love hearing all these talking stories...they are soooo cute!!!!!! Justice's latest thing is to do the generic "Dell" laptop unplug...REALLY loud!!! When we got him at 9 months old, he was doing this strange high pitched thing that we could only call a "high pitched machine gun". Then he refined it and it is now identical to the home phone ringing!!!! He will do it and Scarlet will answer with my husband's "hello?". Scarlet will talk to us like, "what kind of bird are you?" she says, "African (emphasis on CAAAAN) GREY (really loud)!" Now Justice has started doing the same thing. He was having issues with saying african at first but now does it just fine. Also they like to "Call the police cars" (insert siren whistle) also "where's the police cars?" One time we had a police car at the house (husband was doing electrical work on it) it was one of the rare nice days in AZ, so I took Scarlet out to the garage (before we had Justice). She was sitting on my shoulder and said "The POLICE car!" I about fell over!!!! I didn't know that she actually knew what one was!!!! I was laughing sooooo hard!!!!! I looked at my husband and said, "Did you know that she actually KNOWS what a police car looks like?!" He looked at me with a bewildered look and said, "Well YA! Of course she knows what they look like!!!" I had no idea!!! That is probably my favorite talking story EVER!!!!

I hope that when i bring Kirby home he's got atleast the "hello" he's around 200 other birds that do nothing but say that all day... ( he should be home in a few more weeks.. wooooooohoooo)
