Well, it only took a couple of weeks for Gracie to become a more confident girl! When we got her in May we were told she was aggressive & bites. What were they talking about??? She is the sweetest little girl I've known! The poor dear was just scared to death of people because she was never alowed out of her cage or held by anyone. She will now step up on command, even from inside her cage. She doesn't shy away from hands at all but comes to you for some love when you approach her cage.
And smart! I knew these birds were smart, but man, I had no idea just how smart! She picks up words really fast. Much to the dismay of my miniature dachshunds Abigail Von Wagatail & Tucker Von F*^@!#. She calls them all the time. Poor Tucker will run and sit in front of her cage just waiting on her to say something more or tell him what to do. She will get him there and say "outside" & he trots off to the back door. I let him out & Gracie pipes up "good boy girl". I guess she can't decide if he is the boy or girl. It's really funny to watch. She also will bark just like the two of them. Since they usually bark in unison the noise that comes out of Gracie is like two voices at once. I don't know how she does that! Oh, and we are having our house re-sided & she is now proudly making the muffeled voices of the carpenters & a wonderful hammering noise .
Until I can figure out how to posts pictures & put up an avitar this link will have to do. Gracie's album is on the second page. The first pictures are when we first got her home & she wouldn't come out of her cage. Then there are some of my son & his wife holding her the other night. The first page also has some pictures of my other fids & critters. If you look closely at the second picture in the album you can see where she has chewed at her fethers, barbing the ends of some. I've not been seeing her do this anymore, but I'm watching closely. I'm hoping with the new toys & attention she will stop.
