Today I went to see my little hatchling who broke into this world on February 26th. I could not believe my ears !!!! Plain as day, she said "Hello". Not once, but 3 times in an hour period! I'm still astounded!!! She was saying some other stuff too, but I couldn't tell what it was. Do you believe it!! ? We did very well today, she tasted my fingers, got a little to strong with the testing and I said, "ouch", she lightened up. She was also preening while she was sitting on my lap. I know that's a good sign. I'm so excited, it's awesome!!!

I've thought about bringing her home earlier, but I'm not sure if I want to try the weaning thing. She's still on 2 feedings a day. I've been thinking about bringing her home when she's on 1 feeding. She's also still on the bottom of the cage, clumsy, you know. I'm going to go and take a picture or 10 of her tomorrow. Hehehe.... I'll talk to the Store person about it tomorrow also about learning how to feed her with the formula and syringe. I'm sure I could handle it.

its really easy to hand feed them once they're at least eating some pellets and fruits/veggies on their own. i wouldn't want that responsibility from hatching though. zeke was on one hand feeding a day when i brought him home last weekend and he's already starting to refuse all but maybe 5cc once a day of his formula (he was taking between 20-25 cc). he's clumsy too but he's ALL over his cage. at this point i'm keeping his feeding bowels down on the bottom of his cage but plan on moving them up as he matures. we just introduced him to his play gym and he's stable on it but not super into exploring on it as he is in his cage. also, he when we have him on our hand/arm and walk across the room he feels off balance and starts flapping his wings really hard while bearing down into our skin with his talons. ahah, the wing flapping is so strong it practically pulls him right off our finger/arm!!

Cool, I'm glad Iasked, because that's what I'm gonna do. I've been to see her (bird) on Monday and Today. They are very strong!! I got my little bird to step-up today. NancyD helped me with that on Monday. Those talons do hurt, that's for sure. I've got a few pictures, I just have to send them to Preston. I think I'm going to try to get some better ones though. She's doing very well with me. She hasn't tried to bite me or anything, she seems very sweet. I can't wait to bring her home!!! It's going to be soon, she's already perching and saying "hello".

I am so glad to hear that your baby stepped up for you. Make sure you do a bit of practice everytime you get to see him/her. It's good for getting them socialized, and in case there's an emergency of any sort, you certainly don't want to have to fight to get him/her onto your finger.
( If my tiel is on the floor in the other room and I put my finger down, he will walk all the way over just to step up onto it, without me saying anything. I also stick trained him too in case he gets up onto something that I can't reach and I need him to come down. I keep a 3" dowel handy just in case).
Gee I hope I can get my Peanut to respond to steppin up as well as my tiel does.
