I got to see Peanut for the first time Saturday. Wow, is she somethin !!
She was put on her t-stand and she showed me how she learned to fly this past Friday. As a matter of fact she showed me 3 times. She is so light weight, she gets an awesome amount of height already!! (I was told that after I left, she took off again and ran right into the crown molding full steam ahead--the breeder gave her a minimal clip hoping it'll slow her down some-she weighs in at an awesome 295 grms after eating)
She also showed me how she could put lots of pressure on my finger. Owwww !!
Anyhow, it was off to the parrot picnic for the breeder and me for the afternoon, but when we got back, I got to talk to Peanut for quite a while, gave her a couple of pine nuts--I can't believe how gently she took them from my fingers--she chewed them though--(perhaps she's more dainty than Prestons' Pete). No nips this time around either. Then the breeder took her up and said hello to her in a singsong kinda voice and I was amazed that this baby started to imitate the sounds--only it came out more like a quick hoo-loo. There's no mistaken though she was definitely tryin to talk--and she listens very closely when talked to. (She already barks too !! breeder just got a Yorkie puppy)
She's still not ready to come home though, and obviously. I didn't want to leave. The breeder thinks she's still a bit too clumsy on her feet and when climbin around. Besides the fact that she is handling Peanut a lot more-- turnin her upside down, teaching step ups, and generally letting Peanut know she can be touched all over without fear. She's more comfortable letting her birds go home this way
Gosh, I can't wait--
