Hello Everyone,
I have not been able to take Cochi to the Vet. because we do not have an avian Vet. in our area. I want to take him to someone who specializes in birds, not livestock. I finally located one who specializes in birds; about one hour drive from home, but it's worth it. What type of blood tests ect. should I make sure is done for him?? I want to make sure he has a long happy, healthy life. Thanks for any input!! Laura and Cochi

I am glad you have found an avian vet, it is important to get a specialist vet. The vet will most likely weigh Cochi and examine his feathers, skin, feet, inside and outside of the beak. A full blood count might be done, this provides a baseline value for Cochi so that future counts can be compared. You can also have tests for PBFD and chlamydia, blood calcium levels. The droppings can be analysed for bacteria and parasites. The vet will know what tests are appropriate for a young grey. Keep us updated.
