Today I want to share a great and unbeleivalble fact with you all.My maternal uncle who lives in US has 2 congo grey---Ashly and Jeck. When Jeck was 7/8 moths old---one day my uncle was having his evening walk holding Jeck on his hand----what happened was---suddenly Jeck flew away---and my uncle serched him a lot in the neerby area--but all in vain.My uncle and antie's life was devastaded---my uncle gave a post that he lost his bird in some internet forum---posted some ad---but still nothing happened in one month. After 1 month 17 days my uncle received a call---a lady called him saying she had seen a bird of that description neer her boyfriend's house. On that day my uncle drove to that place which was about 20 miles far from my uncle's place----on reaching that place the lady told that the bird was in their garden for 3 days but on that day the bird was not there.Again my uncle had to return back with empty hands. On every weekend he used to go there and call "JECKKKK....JECKKKK...."But no reply....Then again one day an old lady there asked my uncle what happenned ?"Are you looking for a bird named Jeck?"My uncle didnt have any words to say something----he just asked---"Do you know where he is"---The lady told "come with me."She took my uncle to one's house and asked him to show the bird ---but the man denied that he had that bird. The lady told my uncle that she had seen the bird saying ---"Jeck is a pretty bird...Jeck is a pretty bird." But still the man was not ready to give the bird so easily---he asked for 2500 dollar---My uncle called the police and the police managed to take that bird----but the police asked my uncle to show all the papers which will prove that the bird belongs to my uncle----then my uncle told them to give him some time so that he can bring the papers from home---but when the police was taking Jeck from that person's house----As jeck saw my uncle he just flew to uncle's shoulder and started to say---"I miss You"..."Give me a kisss ,Babu" Babu is my uncle's name "I luv u Babu"---on seeing all these activities the police said---"Ok we are sure this is your bird---you can take him home---but you have to show the papers-----which is just a formality which can be done afterwards----AND JECK IS BACK TO HIS HOME AGAIN-----and from the place where atlast my uncle found Jeck was 28 miles away from his house.Isnt it great? ?? I just wanted to share this true story to all of you. Oh!!! I forgot to inform you all that my uncle got back Jeck after 5 months 21 days---That means after 5 months 21 days Jeck was still missing my Uncle. And now Jeck is 3 years 7 months old.

Great story, but the person asking for a ransome shows the lack of compassion in the world today. The power of greed corrupts some people these days. [aside] I had pizza delivered once and gave the young man $3 for a tip, he handed it back to me and said "I demand $5 on my tips" I simply demanded his hasty exit from my property, and have never done business with them since. I would have rewarded that man for the safe return of my pet, but not after such a rude display of greed. My hat is off to the Police for their decissions. Our new law in Texas has provisions for an owner to recover their animal without paying a ransom. Providing proof that you own the animal (of the same species) for one, but the chances are slim that the athourity you have with you can tell the differance. Who better is qualified than I to pick out the names of our birds here on the forum? I have downloaded, croped, and posted hundreds of avatars, and would be hard pressed to pick but a few from a line-up. The bill of sale does not state that the found animal is yours. Here's the good part! You ask the police to inspect the conditions that the found animal has, and will be kept in until a judgement can be made. [aside] Who keeps the propper cage and food just in case they find a stray expensive parrot in their back yard? I'll bet they find a cardboard box with holes punched into it, no food and poop saturated with spilled water from a scared flailing aninal! Felony Cruelty to an Animal! Our greedy person goes to jail, your bird goes to the SPCA for propper care until a decission can be made. Like I said, I admire the cops for there insight to realize it was actually his bird, and realeased it to him pending propper proof. I would have been glad to slip the guy a $150 or so for his trouble as a reward, I guess the point of this rant has a moral to it. Have several clear close up pictures of your pet in an envelope with the receipt and any info on a leg band handy. Ok, you can wake up now.

I'm so glad your uncle got his bird back. Such a good memory. Some people can be really horrible. It's great the police used common sense and gave the bird back to his rightful owner.
